Redknapp quit because of… an injury!?

Harry Redknapp’s two-year spell at Queens Park Rangers finished unexpectedly at Tuesday, after more than two years in charge at Loftus Road. His time at QPR, his third London club as a manager, was marked with inconsistency, both positive and negative periods.

Redknapp was appointed, three months after the beginning of the 2012/13 season, with a reputation of a manager that could inspire miracle since The Hoops were at the last place of the table with just four points after twelve games. However, it didn’t happen and QPR was convincingly relegated, with fourteen points margin to the safest, 17th place, without ever really having the chance to stay in the top division. And when everyone was expecting he could ran away to some more suitable club, he stayed for a Championship season that will end in spectacular manner – winning a play-off place in the last minute and with man down. But the new PL season, again, hasn’t been a pleasant one. With fifteen games to go, QPR holds second from bottom place, though the safe harbor is just a point away.

It is clear that team needed reinforcements in the transfer window and since there were rumors about Redknapp’s discontent and disagreements with the owner Tony Fernandes about the transfer policy, his surprising resign could and did find an explanations in that direction.

Redknapp, however, denies it and has a lot more surprising reason – an injury! As he pointed out, he will be submitted to a surgery after a knee injury he’s been dealing with and which will separate him from his duties to an excessive period of time, just when QPR is going to fight their relegation battles. However, he hasn’t denied transfer failures with Emmanuel Adebayor and Matt Jarvis, so his decision, just after the end of transfer window, could be seen from that perspective. He is an old fox, at the end.
