Manchester City’s manager, Manual Pellegrini, has come to an agreement with Swansea City for the transfer of Wilfried Bony on a salubrious fee of £28m. The 26-year-old Bony is set to sign 4½-year deal worth £100,000 a week with the Blues.

The Ivory Coast international joined the ranks of Swansea City for a club-record fee of £12m in 2013. He was the Premier League’s top scorer in 2014 with 20 goals. And in this season he has already netted 9 fiery goals in 22 fixtures for his team.

Manchester City are in dire need of a quality fourth striker with Sergio Agüero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic getting injured frequently. Bony has the vivacity, the ingenuity and the quality to replace any of these strikers and be the perfect fit for the reigning champions.

Pellegrini said to media on Friday: “The injuries were part of the decision, because we had too many. It’s normal strikers are injured more than other players especially here in England where you need strong footballers and it’s physical football. That’s why I said last year, and this year also, we need a fourth striker.”

Manchester City’s Yaya Toure welcomed the transfer deal of his Ivory coast team-mate, Bony, saying:

‘Manchester City are always a club that wants important players like Bony and Aguero, they always want to progress and be at the top of the Premier League.

‘If you want to be at the top of the Premier League you need to sign the top players and Bony is one of them at the moment.’

Currently, Wilfried Bony is in Dubai, the hub of City’s owners, alongwith his agents and in talks with Manchester City’s team. The two clubs are expected to complete this deal within next 48 hours.
