A research conducted by the CIES Football Observatory has shown that Lionel Messi is worth a stunning £172 million (220M€) if any club dares to buy him. This makes him the most valuable, most precious, and most cherished player in the football world. On the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo, his fierce rival, holds the second spot in the list with the value of £104m (133M€). So, Leo Messi, the Barcelona superstar, is worth £68m (87M€) more than the Portugese stellar striker.
Chelsea dazzling duo, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa, bagged the third and fourth positions with the worth of £77.6m and £65.9m respectively. Fifth spot went to the 21-year-old Juventus luminary, Paul Pogba, who is valued £56.4 million.
The research was conducted using a labryinthine algorithm that takes into account “player performances (matches, goals, dribbles, etc.), their characteristics (age, position, contract duration, etc.), as well as competition level and results achieved by their teams (clubs and national sides)” to determine the current market value for players.
